Energize NY gets busy in  Westchester with 6 Upcoming Events

Westchester residents are becoming more and more familiar with seeing Energize NY’s bright green banners at community events throughout the county. This weekend will be no exception, as Energize Towns plan to exhibit energy efficiency information at 6 events this weekend and next week.

Energize NY is Westchester’s go-to source for reliable information about home energy upgrades. They also provide much-needed help with filling out state paperwork and helping homeowners to navigate through the many options for finding accountable contractors. 

Their main focus, the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program, offered through NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority), requires homeowners get a Comprehensive Home Energy Assessment by a certified contractor. Following the assessment, the contractor will provide a report recommending cost effective improvements that may include insulation, air sealing, weather stripping, heating equipment, and more.

 

SATURDAY

Visit an Energize representative on Saturday at the following locations:

Chappaqua Farmers Market, 9am – 1pm, 191 S Greeley Ave. Talk with Energize New Castle and representatives from the New Castle Sustainability Task Force, and taste the bounty of our regional farms and producers while you are there!

Gossetts Farmers Market, 9am – 1pm, 1202 Old Post Road, South Salem. Talk with Energize Lewisboro team: town Supervisor Peter Parsons, and representatives from the Lewisboro Sustainability Committee.

Zero Waste Day, 9am – 3pm, behind North Castle Town Hall. Join Energize North Castle, with representatives from Sustainable North Castle. Be sure to bring your clothing donations, scrap metal, and paper to shred among other things!

2012 Harvest Festival, 2-6pm, Westchester Avenue & Scotts Corners. Look for Energize Pound Ridge, with representatives from the Pound Ridge Sustainability Task Force.

SUNDAY

On Sunday, see the Bedford 2020 team and Energize Bedford at the Lion's 14th Annual Fall Car Show, 10 am to 4 pm. Last year this Lion’s event drew over 300 entrants! Katonah Commuter Parking Lot #3.

TUESDAY

On Tuesday you can get serious with all of your follow-up questions at the Peekskill Homeowner Education: Save Energy, Save Money event, 7-8:30pm, Field Library. Our well-respected Energy Coach Dick Kornbluth will be there to answer homeowner questions and our whole core Energize team will be there to help answer questions about return on
investment, what state incentives and subsidies there are for this program, and how to get low interest financing for your project. We’ll also be live with scanners and computers to  help you sign up and get your application submitted, so bring your utility account information and heating fuel information if you would like live assistance.

THURSDAY

 

On Thursday, bring your teens and head over to the Community Partnership Employment & Service Fair at Somers High School, 10-2:30. Come talk with the Somers Energy and Environment Committee volunteers about the Energize Somers program.
